NAMI NJ is accepting entries for its annual Dara Axelrod Expressive Arts Mental Health Poetry Contest. This year’s theme is flying. Poems should keep with the theme, be typed, and no longer than 40 lines. Submissions must include a media release form and a cover letter (with name, e-mail address, mailing address, and phone number). Submissions are due April 1. Call for Singers
Singers are invited to join the Chancel Choir at Princeton United Methodist Church to present Cherubini’s Requiem with a chamber orchestra on Good Friday, April 19, at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays, 7 to 7:30 p.m. starting February 20 and 27. Dress rehearsal will be Wednesday, April 17. The Lawrence Library is hosting auditions for PlayFest, its one-act play festival, on Wednesday, February 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 2, from 1 to 2 p.m., and Monday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. The festival is set for Saturday, April 27. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from selected scripts. The library is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike in Lawrence. Call for Art
The West Windsor Arts Council is accepting submissions for its annual member show. This year’s theme is “Fiction: The Art Show.” Works should be focused on the concept of real versus imaginary and the merging of visual arts and literary arts. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, February 24. There is no fee for submission, but artists must be a member of the West Windsor Arts Center. Visit www.westwindsorarts.org.
The Lawrence Library is accepting entries for its annual TrashedArt contest, which celebrates Earth Day exhibiting art made from trash. The contest is limited to one entry per artist. Classes or groups can participate if they register ahead of time by calling 609-883-8292 or emailing email@example.com. Art must be submitted between March 20 and March 27. Selected entries will be on display throughout April. All entries must consist of at least 75 percent recycled content.
