Call for Poetry
To commemorate National Poetry Month, the New Brunswick Free Public Library will publish its 21st annual Poetry Month Celebration Anthology in April. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 1. The anthology is open to all poets. Submissions are limited to one poem per person. Call for Art
The New Jersey Department of Human Services is accepting entries for its New Jersey Teen Media Contest. The contest is open to all New Jersey middle and high school-aged students. Entries should illustrate a situation when the artist felt most supported by a loved one. Works can be physical art, computer/digital art, or the written word. All entries must be postmarked by Friday, April 5. Winning entries will be included in the 2020 Office of Child Support calendar and be place on display in the New Jersey State House. The Lawrence Library is hosting auditions for PlayFest, its one-act play festival, on Wednesday, February 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 2, from 1 to 2 p.m., and Monday, March 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. The festival is set for Saturday, April 27. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from selected scripts. The library is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike in Lawrence. Call for T-shirt Designs
Attitudes in Reverse is accepting submissions for its annual T-shirt design contest. This year’s slogan is “Kind is the New Cool.” Students can submit designs that communicate AIR’s message about focusing on mental health along with all other aspects of health. Submissions are due Friday, March 29.
Each winner will receive a free T-shirt. The first place winner will receive an iPad, and the second place winner will receive a $50 gift card. Submissions can be submitted online or mailed to Attitudes in Reverse, Box 3127, Princeton, NJ 08543. For more information, visit www.attitudesinreverse.org.
Applications are available for the Woman’s Club of Lawrenceville Mary Darwin Heath Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship of $2,000 per year is awarded to a young woman who is a high school senior and resident of Lawrence Township, with a total possible award of $8,000 over four years.
The award is paid annually toward tuition fees at the college or university of the recipient’s choice. The applicant’s academic standing, financial need and character are taken into consideration by the committee. A personal interview will be required.
Applications are available in the guidance offices of Lawrence High School, the Lawrenceville School, and Notre Dame. Interviews will be scheduled for May 1 and 2. The recipient will be announced by the end of May.
