The Mercer County Wildlife Center will host orientations for new volunteers on Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers must be able to commit to one, four-hour shift, once per week, from May through September. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have a current tetanus vaccine, and are required to attend one orientation session.

Call for Music

The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey is accepting entries for its New Jersey Shout Down Drugs contest. High school students can submit original music with lyrics about substance abuse prevention through Friday, February 1. A panel of judges will select one finalist from every county to perform their songs at the 15th annual Prevention Concert, held Friday, May 10, at the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Theater at Rutgers. Call for Art

The Lawrence Library is accepting entries for its annual TrashedArt contest, which celebrates Earth Day exhibiting art made from trash. Classes or groups can participate if they register ahead of time by calling 609-883-8292 or emailing jcuddahy@mcl.org.

Art must be submitted between March 20 and 27. Selected entries will be on display throughout April. All entries must consist of at least 75 percent recycled content. Natural materials such as rocks, dirt, bones, and sticks are not considered recycled. Entry forms are available at the Lawrence Library, 2751 Brunswick Pike. One entry per artist.
