Elementary through high school musicians are invited to audition for the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey on Tuesday, January 23 (snow date: January 30). Literacy NJ is hosting a free citizenship class at the Lawrence Library. This 11-week class is offered to permanent legal residents who can read, write, and speak basic English, and who want to become United States citizens. New Jersey High School students can register to compete in the New Jersey Brain Bee Competition, held Saturday, February 10, at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, 675 Hoes Lane West, Piscataway. Modeled after a traditional spelling bee, the Brain Bee is a live question-and-answer competition in which students are quizzed about the human brain and central nervous system.
