Free Cancer Screenings
Princeton United Methodist Church and Cornerstone Community Kitchen will be hosting free cancer screenings for uninsured and underinsured Mercer County residents on Wednesday, November 1 at Princeton United Methodist Church, 7 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton. Screenings include mammograms, pap smears, and prostate and colorectal exams. Screenings are subject to the number of available openings and certain criteria. Registration is required. Attend a Workshop
The Hypnosis Counseling Center will present a special set of workshops on Tuesday, October 10 for Smoking Cessation, Weight Loss, and Better Sleep with Hypnosis at South Brunswick High School, 750 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction. Each workshop includes hypnosis exercises, discussion, and an optional CD for $18. The evening workshops can be taken individually or as a set. The cost per workshop is $59. Villagers Theater is hosting two Saturday theater workshops this fall for children and young adults. The first workshop is “Miniature Musical Makers” and is geared toward students in grades four to eight. The second workshop is “Villagers Teen Ensemble” for teenagers in grades nine to twelve. Villagers Theater is accepting submissions for the 2018 New Playwrights Series now through Sunday, October 15. Selected plays will be presented as stage readings next spring. Kelsey Theater is holding auditions for their December production of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas…” on Sunday, October 8 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. and Monday, October 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. Actors ages 7 and up can audition. Open roles include children, adult townspeople, narrators, and dancers. Prepare a short monologue or Christmas poem up to 1-minute. Be prepare to dance, and bring a resume if available. Adath Israel is hosting a weekend celebration of Shabbat retreat at the Pearlstone Retreat Center in Reisterstown, Maryland, Friday to Sunday, November 17 to November 19. The retreat is designed specifically for residents of the Mercer and Bucks County areas. The Pearlstone Retreat Center is under kosher supervision. All meals and snacks are provided.
