Smart Growth Awards
The deadline to submit a project to New Jersey Future’s 2016 Smart Growth Awards competition is Friday, January 13. Plans or projects in New Jersey that represent high-quality growth, development, or land preservation can be submitted online at www.njfuture.org. Any built project or adopted plan is eligible for consideration, although this year they will be giving additional consideration to projects that include effective use of green infrastructure as a stormwater management tool.

McCarter Theater has teamed up with Mercer Street Friends Food Bank to raise awareness and donations during their production of “A Christmas Carol,” which runs through Saturday, December 31. Before the show, patrons can fill out a holiday card for children enrolled in the food bank’s Send Hunter Packing program, which provides lunches to children in need. The Rutgers Environmental Steward Training Program is enrolling students for their 2017 program to become a certified Environmental Steward. The classes will be held at the EARTH Center, in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, 42 Riva Avenue, South Brunswick on Wednesdays at 6:30 starting January 25. Classes run through June and focus on the science behind environmental issues. Stewards must also complete a 60-hour volunteer internship of their choosing. Visit envirostewards.rutgers.edu.
Princeton Ballet School is holding auditions for its Summer Intensive program, which is held in Princeton from June 26 to July 28, 2017.
