Capital Singers of Trenton, a 75 voice choir founded in 2006, seeks singers of all parts. Composed of amateur and semi professional singers of all ages, the repertoire includes an eclectic mix of musical genres and styles, both sacred and secular. Its mission is to promote the art of choral singing, enrich the cultural life of New Jersey, and serve as goodwill ambassadors for the city of Trenton through concerts, special performances, and community outreach. VOICES, a community choruses with more than 50 members, will hold open auditions by appointment and on Monday, January 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Music Together, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Road, Hopewell. The group is seeker singers from the greater Princeton area as well as from Bucks County. The choral selections include contemporary, spirituals, show music, choral masterworks, and premieres by American composers.

New Jersey Blood Services, a division of New York Blood Center, which supplies blood products and services to 60 hospitals throughout the state, is in need of volunteers at blood drives. The blood service volunteer is an integral member of the collection team whose task it is assist donors with registration, escorting and canteen duties, and to watch for post donation reactions. Volunteers should have the ability to relate to the public, be able to perform different jobs as needed and have the willingness to follow the rules. Contact R. VOICES seeks entries in its Young Composers Project, a composition contest for ages 5 through 12. Deadline is Tuesday, March 1. Children compose a piece of music with a vocal element for a soloist or choral ensemble, either unaccompanied or with instrumental accompaniment. The music may be written down in any kind of notation, formal or invented. Parents, piano teachers, and music teachers are invited to support, but not edit.
