Playful Theater Productions has auditions for “Working: The Musical,” based on Studs Terkel’s book and adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso. All roles are open to actors and singers 18 and older. Casting three adult males and three adult females to play 26 roles. Field Hockey

Central Jersey Summer Field Hockey for teens and adults is a cross-field, 5v5, score-from-anywhere, action-packed game. The league, organized by the Ocean Atlantic Field Hockey Association, will play Monday and Wednesday evenings in July on the turf at Princeton Day School. The league is open to male and female players who are at least 15 years of age, $50 per player; a team of nine players is $135. Deadline to join is Friday, June 28. Visit Hockey5s.­com.

Call for Writers

Unlimited Potential Theater Company, a project of VSA New Jersey, is seeking poems, essays, short stories, and plays by New Jersey residents, ages 18 and over, for its 20th annual Joyce Indik New Jersey Wordsmith Competition. Submissions by writers with disabilities are especially encouraged. Winning works will be showcased at the New Jersey Readers’ Theater next spring. Call for Films

New Jersey Film Festival has a call for entries for its fall event. The deadline is Monday, July 15, at noon. Categories include animation, documentary, experimental, short narrative, feature, music video, and student.

Entry fees are $45 for film up to 20 minutes, $55 for works between 20 and 50 minutes, and $75 for works more than 50 minutes. Maximum film age is 24 months. Entry must be a New Jersey or area premiere and must not be available to view in full on the internet. If chosen for festival screening a high quality region DVD or Blu Ray disc must be sent for festival screening.

Entries must include official entry form, completed and signed; a short synopsis of entry, biography of maker/actor(s), and a press kit with photos (optional).
