Audition

Rain Garden

Isles and Rutgers Cooperative Extension Water Resources program offer a two-day training workshop to install and maintain a rain garden. The workshop includes both classroom and field time and an actual rain garden installation at a Trenton site. The plants are native to the region and help retain contaminants that could harm nearby waterways. Wednesday and Thursday, October 19 and 20 in Trenton. $25 includes the program, the manual, refreshments and lunch for the first day. Register at water.rutgers.edu.

Trips

Bucks County Historical Society offers a bus trip on Friday, October 21 to visit the B&O Railroad Museum and the American Visionary Arts Museum, both in Baltimore, Maryland. Lunch will be at the Rusty Scupper Restaurant on the Inner Harbor. The bus departs the Fonthill Museum in Doylestown at 7 a.m. $100 includes museum admission, guided tour at the railroad museum, bus transportation, lunch, and snacks. Washington Crossing Audubon Society offers grants to assist individuals and organizations in advancing environmental education and conservation through initiatives related to bird life. Bullying

Rutgers with Time, Facebook, and the Cartoon Network, host “Anderson Cooper 360 Town Hall,” a special on bullying, on CNN, on Sunday, October 9, at 8 p.m. The event at Rutgers was in conjunction with the first anniversary of Tyler Clementi’s suicide, that brought the issue of cyber-bullying to international attention.
