A group of attorneys from Hill Wallach specializing in employment

and labor law, as well as general civil litigation, formed this firm

on October 1. Duane, Morris & Heckcher is headquartered in

Philadelphia,

and has 19 offices nation-wide, with three offices in New Jersey.

Elaine Jacoby, the resident managing partner, has a BA from Mount

Holyoke, Class of 1963, and holds a law degree from Rutgers. Gary

Mitchell received his undergraduate and law degree at Rutgers and

has been practicing for almost 20 years. The third partner, Kathleen

Burns, holds a degree from Thomas Edison State College and graduated

from Rutgers’ law school in 1999.

Several attorneys from the Roseland office of Friedman Seigelbaum

LLP (recently acquired by Boston-based law firm Goodwin, Proctor &

Hoar) will be joining this firm on May 22. The office will move from

Roseland to Newark and retain its offices in New York City and Albany,

New York. Founded in 1928 the firm as a whole has 110 lawyers,

Kathryn Flicker, the deputy first assistant prosecutor, has been

appointed

to head the state Division of Criminal Justice. Known for successfully

prosecuting Jesse Timmendequas (who received a death sentence for

the rape and murder of Megan Kanka), she will be the first woman in

this state post.

Flicker went to Indiana University and Rutgers School of Law and spent

19 years in the county prosecutor’s office and 10 years as a state

deputy attorney general. In her new post she will manage 870 people

and supervise the offices of 21 county prosecutors. Paul Zoubek, who

has been both criminal justice director and first assistant attorney

general, will continue to serve in the latter post.
