The infrared technology company, which makes specialized instruments, has received a $750,000, two-year contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory to fund the development of detector arrays for laser rangefinding and detection technology (LADAR.) The R&D work will be supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

The Small Business Innovation Research SBIR grant will allow the company to develop advanced “multi-quantum well materials” to create advanced sensors to help the Air Force identify targets. The technology could have civilian applications as well.

“The material development will also be useful in the commercial sector for spectroscopy and industrial imaging,” said CEO Martin H. Ettenberg.
