The law firms of Eckert Seamans and Sterns & Weinroth will merge effective Monday, April 1. The merged firm, which will be known as Eckert Seamans, will result in the addition of a new Eckert Seamans office in Trenton and bring the firm’s total attorney count to more than 385, according to a news release.

“Sterns & Weinroth is among the most highly respected firms in New Jersey,” said Eckert Seamans CEO Timothy P. Ryan. “We were tremendously impressed with them from the time that we were first introduced. Our firms have very compatible cultures and unwavering commitments to client service.” Eckert Seamans, headquartered in Pittsburgh, has nearly 400 attorneys in a dozen offices in eight states, including Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Robert B. Royds, 68, on March 23. He was the founder, medical director, and chairman of the board for Theradex, a contract research organization based at 4365 Route 1 South. Before founding Theradex in 1982 he was an executive with Merck, Sharp & Dohme, and Hoffman-La Roche.
