Patricia Palmieri has been appointed senior vice president/chief operating and strategy officer at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton
Palmieri comes to RWJ Hamilton after serving as vice president of operations at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where she worked since 2006.
“With an extensive background in healthcare, her record of accomplishments in the Robert Wood Johnson Health System, and family roots in Mercer County, Patty is a perfect fit for RWJ Hamilton,” said Skip Cimino, president and CEO of RWJ Hamilton.
Palmieri will be responsible for developing strategic programs and partnerships, as well as providing leadership of operations, physician practices, and surgical and patient care services.
“My family lives in Hamilton Township and I am excited to join our hometown hospital,” she says. “These are exciting times for RWJ. We are on the cusp of delivering care in a whole new environment, with healthcare reform upon us.”
As vice president of operations at RWJUH in New Brunswick, Palmieri’s team included 800 employees. She led the hospital’s ambulatory strategy and the development of several initiatives contributing to the hospital’s growth and success. Prior to RWJ, Palmieri held a management position with AtlanticCare and providing consulting services with Cardinal Health.
A graduate of Rutgers University where she earned a degree in pharmacy, Palmieri earned an MBA from Drexel University.

Rockwood Holdings, a global producer of specialty chemicals, has received approval from the government of Australia for the acquisition of Talison Lithium Limited.
Rockwood, based at 100 Overlook Center, agreed to acquire Talison for $732 million to expand its battery-grade lithium production to an international customer base. The acuisition of Talison, headquartered in Perth, required the approval of Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board.
“The acquisition of Talison is the logical next step in further strengthening our lithium business and enhancing our capabilities,” said Seifi Ghasemi, chairman and CEO of Rockwood, in a statement. “This acquisition will enable us to better serve both our existing global customers, as well as Talison’s current lithium concentrate customers in China and the rest of the world.”
Earlier this year, Talison doubled its lithium production capacity by expanding a plant in Western Australia, where it has been manufacturing the energy product used in batteries and mobile electronics for more than 25 years. The company exports more than 350,000 metric tons of lithium each year, according to its website.
Rockwood announced it will pay Talison 6.50 Canadian dollars — or $6.58 — per share, and it intends to finance the acquisition with the cash on its balance sheet and new debt financing. The pricing is in Canadian dollars because Talison is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
