A favorite is the adaption of Little Red Riding Hood in the Easy Storybooks by McGraw Hill. All of the books come with CDs, and some come with flashcards. Lomba, who is hiring people to work in different languages, is looking into self
publishing in an electronic format.
"When I started in 1990 there wasn’t much interest in early language learning," she says. "Now I see preschools and language schools popping up all over the place. The markets include bilingual families, known in the publishing industry as "heritage families," those children whose families speak another language. It is an exploding market."
Lomba studied Spanish at Binghamton and Princeton and has two master’s degrees in literature. She had enrolled as a PhD student, but decided to stop to work with children. She has three children of her own, ages 11, 9, and 5.
