Conveniently located in historic Lawrenceville, Morris Hall Senior Care Communities has been serving the community since 1904. Sharing a 40-acre healthcare campus with St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, it includes St. Mary’s Assisted Living, Grace Garden Memory Care, St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Center, and Morris Hall Meadows, our newest skilled nursing homes based on The GREEN HOUSE model.

At Morris Hall Meadows, elders live in actual homes offering more privacy and comfort than a traditional nursing home setting. There are six houses with 10 private bed-and-bath suites overlooking beautifully landscaped grounds. At the center of each home, and accessible to residents at all times, is a spacious hearth room with a fireplace facing a comfortable patio, a shared dining room and an open kitchen, as well as a spa area and cozy library.

The GREEN HOUSE model embraces three core values: a meaningful life, a real home and an empowered staff. Elders have as much autonomy and control over his or her activities as they choose. They control their own daily routines and rhythms for waking, sleeping, meals, self-care and alone time. Each has direct involvement in his or her own care plan, and all residents enjoy formal and informal opportunities for engagement inside and outside of the home.

Activities are designed with individual preferences in mind. While some are scheduled activities such as entertainers, harp therapy, bingo crafts and Mass, The GREEN HOUSE philosophy encourages spontaneous activities among the elders. They may decide to take a walk, watch sports or a movie, or make ice cream sundaes. Pets are also welcome and some visit on a daily basis.

The Elders are cared for by Shahbazim, who are present at all times for the needs, care and comfort of residents. Each Shahbaz is carefully selected for his or her ability to provide compassionate care to each individual and to thoughtfully monitor the residents’ well-being. They work in concert with the clinical support team to constantly provide optimal care to each person in residence.

The relationship between residents, their families, and the Shahbaz is a large part of the success of Morris Hall Meadows. The Shahbaz can tailor life in the house to residents’ needs and tastes, especially food, since menus are determined by the people who live there.

Families become involved — perhaps decorating the houses, eating with residents or taking part in activities. Meals are shared around the large dining room table, often joined by family members. There is a true and mutual caring that develops between the elder and caregiver. The relationship between the Shahbaz, the elders and their families is what makes the Meadows “home” vs. “homelike.”

St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Center and Morris Hall Meadows have been awarded a Five-Star Quality rating from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). Morris Hall Meadows is Medicare and Medicaid approved.
