There can be no greater comfort in a time of need than the support of local friends and neighbors. Mobile Meals of Hamilton Township, Inc. has been that local friend for 41 years. They offer hot, nutritious meals to township residents whose physical, mental, or social conditions require a home-delivered meal service.

Dedicated to continuing its long-standing service to Hamilton Township, Mobile Meals of Hamilton takes great pride in the commitment of residents to the organization. Executive Director Eileen Eversheim states, “The dedicated volunteers who gladly take time from their day to help their neighbors provide so much more than food. They offer a friendly face, a moment to chat or visit, and the comfort of knowing that there is someone, beyond the front door, who cares.”

“I believe that our volunteers get as much or more out of helping their neighbors as our clients do from them. We have a dedicated group of Hamilton residents who deliver more than 20,000 meals a year. They are from all walks of life; working professionals as well as retirees. We also have the consistent support of local businesses, community organization and churches. Everyone is deeply committed to helping fellow townsfolk.”

Eversheim says, “Our organization thrives on the continuous devotion of our volunteers, some of whom have worked with us for years. There is no greater evidence of this community commitment than the fact that the matriarch of the Blair family, who was instrumental our founding in 1975, still delivers meals regularly all these years later.”

Board of Directors Chair Suzanne Fornaro stresses, “The core mission of Mobile Meals of Hamilton Township, Inc. is to provide this invaluable service to everyone requiring it, regardless of ability to pay. The bedrock of our organization is the town itself, the people living and working in Hamilton who help each other. We receive no government funding.”

Qualified individuals are homebound, chronically ill, handicapped, or convalescing. Age or financial ability is not a factor. There is no limit on length of service, though it varies with each individual client. Hot afternoon meals are professionally planned and prepared by RWJ Barnabas Health at Hamilton dietary staff. Meals are delivered five days a week.

Eversheim points out, “Our program supports our neighbors who are at risk nutritionally. We enable them to maintain health and independence in their home longer. Studies have shown that at-home delivery of balanced meals allows people to stay within their community and avoid the disruption of being forced to move into nursing facilities, which often are located away from family and friends. People are emotionally and socially stronger when they maintain lifelong connections.”

Mobile Meals of Hamilton Township, Inc. faithfully serves its community and is dedicated to continuing that services for years to come.
