Sam Muro, his son, Dennis, and their team of technicians pride themselves on providing the best customer service. “We respond to 98 percent of our calls in the same day,” adds Sam, even during heat waves. “Our techs are taught that if they make a mistake, make sure it’s in the customer’s favor. Our reputation is most important to us.”
At Indoor Air Technologies you can always talk to the owners. “We are accessible. You don’t get lost in the shuffle.” Sam and Dennis only use their own employees for every job. “We do not use subs. Each technician goes over a complete checklist at the end of each job with the customer. They are not allowed to leave until the customer is satisfied.” Most of their technicians are North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certified, or in the process of becoming NATE-certified.
Sam is very proud of his son. “It wasn’t supposed to be.” Dennis was a biology major who was waitlisted for medical school. He decided to stay with the company because he realized he truly enjoys the work. “He has been a tremendous asset to me and our customers,” Sam says. Dennis attended PennCo Tech in Bristol, Pa., and graduated with the “top tech” award. He, too, is NATE-certified.
Prior to owning his own business, Sam worked for General Electric, which became the Trane Company. With Trane, he traveled to different manufacturing locations in the country and developed his HVAC design skills. He is a recognized leader in designing and installing complex HVAC systems for residential and commercial applications.
“In the residential market, our project could involve the replacement of a small HVAC system or the design and installation of a 14,000-square-foot home.” His largest project for a private home included 12 heating zones, 10 cooling zones, and more than 8,000 linear feet of radiant floor heat.
Sam started his business 21 years ago. “I started the business from my home, with one truck and a desire to succeed. Eventually, I had a couple of employees. When my son joined the company, I decided to take the business to the next level. We’ve grown tremendously since then.” Today their building has a fully staffed office and warehouse. “Our business model is simple: it all comes down to service and quality. The customer knows who they’re dealing with.”
