The grand opening of Ichiban Sushi at 660 Plainsboro Road creates joy in many hearts. Current fans of Japanese cuisine will have a huge variety of delicacies before them, and everyone who has longed to try sushi but been confused by the variety will rejoice at the all-you-can eat offerings. Trying something new has never been easier.

Ichiban Sushi brings together the best of Japanese cuisines and breathes fresh life into the definition of sushi. The new menu offers a wide array of fresh sushi, special rolls, succulent seafood, tender chicken, juicy steaks, and garden-fresh vegetables cooked in a calm, zen environment that will feed the senses and entertain the appetite.

Conveniently located in the Princeton Meadows shopping plaza, Ichiban opened for business early in April. The restaurant is invitingly decorated with clean, spare lines, wood, stone, and soft earth tones. Well-spaced tables and booths provide a sense of openness for diners.

Three private meeting rooms make the venue perfect for business meetings or gatherings of up to 10 friends. High-mounted TVs provide entertainment to diners as they savor the extensive menu and its eclectic choices. Parking is never a problem.

The menu features several specialty rolls including the Godzilla Roll of deep fried spicy tuna, avocado with two sauces and the intriguing White Tiger of tuna salmon, yellowtail, and avocado in white seaweed. One example of east-west fusion is the Yellowtail Jalapeno roll, topped with mango. Tempting entrees from the kitchen include a wide variety of teriyaki and Yaki Udon (stir-fried noodles).

The variety is attractive and the all-you-can eat menu provides the perfect way to try many different dishes. Sushi, sashimi and tempura can all be sampled as one piece per order. Soup, rice, salad, and noodles are all part of this menu as are appetizers such as edamame, BBQ squid, and crispy calamari. And don’t forget desserts such as fried banana with ice cream.

Convenient lunch specials are offered Monday through Friday until 3 p.m. These include the Maki Lunch of two rolls for $9.95 or three rolls for $13.95 as well as four different sushi boxes for $12.95. All lunch specials are served with soup and salad.
