Nestled between the historic towns of Hopewell and Pennington, Hopewell Valley Golf Club’s newly renovated grill restaurant, the Baron Dillon, makes this golf club an ideal spot for a business lunch or an intimate private party. Named for its famed former resident, a prize-winning racehorse once housed in the barn-turned-clubhouse, the Baron Dillon was expanded and refurbished in January, 2012, as part of a larger clubhouse renovation project.

The menu features everything from classic Angus beef burgers and design-your-own sandwiches to more sophisticated seasonal entrees like basil-crusted baby veal rack. “The new restaurant is truly a blend of the refined, country-club-style menu you would expect and delicious, home-style comfort food,” said Food and Beverage Director Jenna Biedul. “Although one of our most popular items is our filet mignon, the meatloaf special always sells out the first night, and our homemade soups are among the best in the area.”

Unlike most restaurants, Baron Dillon’s menu is ever-changing, so diners will be surprised to find not just seasonal selections, but a constantly evolving menu. “Since the members dine at our club so frequently, our menus are updated constantly,” said Executive Chef Patrick Tobias. Although admittedly, there are some items Chef Patrick would be hesitant to remove. “There are definitely some entrees that our membership deems as must-haves,” said Tobias. Menu staple items include the Vodka Penne and Chicken Marsala, featuring Crimini mushrooms and served with seasoned red-skin oven-roasted potatoes.

In season, the newly expanded, wrap-around glass deck exposes picturesque vistas of the pristine golf course and provides plenty of al fresco seating. Out of season, the restaurant hosts intimate holiday parties and private social functions, while larger events can be hosted by non-members in the club’s ballroom, the Hopewell Room.

“The new restaurant and clubhouse provide a high-quality dining experience in a relaxed, warm atmosphere,” said Biedul. “Hopewell’s membership prides itself on the unpretentious, welcoming feeling of their club, and the staff provides the service and excellent cuisine you would expect at a country club event.”
