Hopewell-Lambertville Eye Associates is a full scope optometric-ophthalmic practice known for its cutting-edge proactive and preventive eye and integrative health care. Now it offers patients three technologies few other practices in the country have: the Clearpath Diabetes Screening, iTrace combination ray tracing aberrometer/topographer, and VMAX Vision’s PSF Refractor and as well as a free Business to Business Vision Plan to ensure employee wellness.

Dr. Kenneth Daniels, O.D., FAAO, of Hopewell-Lambertville Eye Associates is one of the first in the country to utilize the Clearpath Diabetes and vascular disease screener. This is a non-invasive seven-second test that evaluates the effect of blood sugar on the lens of the eye, giving a possible indication for pre-diabetes as well as monitoring diagnosed diabetic patients.

“The iTrace integrates wavefront aberrometry with corneal topography, giving us the ability to take a picture of the eye and see what you see,” said Dr. Daniels. “This optimizes the care in ocular disease, develops a better plan for surgical care, and allows us to optimize a custom soft contact lens: the Wavetouch lens.”

The PSF Refractor is a dynamic refracting system that uses higher sensitivity and improved accuracy to correct aberrations. It allows patients to interactively adjust their own prescriptions to reduce aberrations. This is transferred to their eyeglass lens, called Encepsion, which is fabricated in a digital free-form method to mathematically bring vision to an “HD” quality.

“Our goal is to tend to each patient on a personal level and determine their eye health and visual correction needs while addressing vision care as part of general health,” he added. “We address eye health as co-managers with a person’s pediatrician, primary care physician, internist, and other specialists: diabetologist, oncologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist, and many other disciplines.”

We have also developed a free and innovative Business to Business Vision Plan which requires no premium. This will allow an employer to offer eye health and vision care at dramatically reduced rates to their staff and families adding to the wellness of the workplace. Visit HLEYEVISIONPLAN.com

An important aspect of Dr. Daniels’ practice is the use of targeted nutritional supplements to augment eye health and overall health. “We have been offering nutritional supplementation for more than 15 years to assist patients with glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and other eye health issues, yet formulated as a ‘whole body’ nutritional protection.”

“In addition to the in-office technologies, we also offer the surgical expertise with our association with the Princeton Eye Group. Our surgeons perform the state of the art techniques using Allegretto No Blade LASIK, Restor multifocal implants, No Stitch cataract surgery, oculoplastics, and many other procedures.”

The practice is an external clinical education site for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Daniels also teaches in the Center for International Studies, traveling to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East to educate international students in the areas of contact lens, ocular disease treatment and diagnostic methods, and surgical management. He is also an author on the areas of contact lens, dry eye, presbyopia, myopia control, and refractive surgery.

Mimi Lee-Parma, Ph.D., O.D. is also a clinical instructor in basic sciences and external educator for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University and New England College of Optometry. Nadine Hermann, O.D. is residency trained in ocular disease and focuses on comprehensive eye care and glaucoma. She is also a consultant to Omni Eye Center in glaucoma services.

Specialized ophthalmic disease and surgical care for patients is provided in cooperation with several retinal groups in the area and the Princeton-Wills Eye Group for state-of-the-art LASIK and cataract surgery.
