Until you see it, you have no idea how romantic The Manor at Makefield Highlands Golf Club actually is. Here, in the abundantly beautiful Bucks County, is a blend of history and romance that creates the prefect backdrop for weddings, banquets, and events.

Makefield Highlands itself is an award-winning, 168-acre public golf course managed by Spirit Golf Management and is steeped in history dating back to the original Penn Grant of 1718. Tucked into the most spectacular corner of this sweeping estate are the farm’s original silo and The Manor House ‒‒ the original stone estate, built in 1766. Lined by garden paths, stately tree lines, and beautiful vistas, the Manor area is the ideal setting for weddings.

Over the past year, says Mike Attara, president of Spirit Golf, Makefield Highlands has focused more on providing memorable weddings and banquet events, but revelers historically had to share space with the golfers in the silo clubhouse.

After working with the Lower Makefield Township and its Golf Committee, Makefield Highlands has put together an elegant outdoor-tented area, called The Manor, for happy couples and their guests to be outside in the sprawling, endless natural beauty. This outdoor area is hardscaped for full service with the perfect view.

John Goeke, Spirit Golf food and beverage director, provided the vision and leadership to create The Manor tent complex and turn it into a world class event and wedding venue. The Manor tent can comfortably accommodate up to 200 of your guests, with French doors, modern color-changing LED lights, and floor-to-ceiling windows for amazing sunset views. Guests can also enjoy expertly made cocktails while drinking in the lush, rolling 18th green and fairway in the shadow of the Silo Bar.

The Manor tent complex was accomplished through a partnership with Bucks-Mont Party Rental, which provides the tent and all accessories, from linens to glassware, Goeke says.

Makefield Highlands now offers three dining options to fit your taste and budget, and can customize every element of your special event. The Country Estate Wedding Buffet is a unique alternative, with stations and presentations that will wow your friends and family.

If you’d rather go the more traditional route, the Manor House Wedding Buffet provides the variety and simplicity of a buffet; or you could select the Woodside Wedding Dinner, a traditional sit-down meal with something for everyone.

You can also design, from Makefield Highlands’ list of preferred caterers. Goeke says the list features spectacular caterers and foods for every taste, all of which have been vetted to ensure that your day is as delicious as it is memorable.

For Goeke, the venture into providing the perfect wedding environment is deeply tied to the historical charm of the farm-turned-golf course. “Preserving the feel of the original farm is important to us,” he says. “The granite and stone features of the Manor’s Silo Bar, which is built into the original grain storage silo, typifies this.”

The clubhouse and the Manor House have undergone quite a bit of renovation in recent years, Goeke says. So have the original barns. The intention, he says, was to make sure to preserve as much of the former Pleasant Valley Estate Farm, the history of which can be traced to the early eighteenth century. In fact, the stone Manor House is a registered historical landmark, giving it yet another bragging right to set the stage for a perfect day spent celebrating.

And by the way, The Manor is not just the ideal place for the wedding party, it’s also the perfect place for the wedding itself. Exchange your vows under the majestic pines or next to the garden pergola. The views are fantastic from every angle, with many options showcasing the property’s endless natural beauty.

And weddings, of course, are not the only events Makefield Highlands is ideal for. The Manor is tailor made for gala events & banquets, bar and bat mitzvahs, sweet sixteens, bridal showers, cocktail receptions, memorial buffet luncheons, holiday parties, golf outings, and even workshops and seminars.
