Have you been avoiding the gym because you don’t like those crowded classes of 30 or 40 people? Gold’s Gym, adjacent to Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrenceville, is offering new, smaller classes designed to match specific needs.
An exercise boot camp, kettle ball classes, Pilates Reformer, TRX Suspension Training, Kickboxing and a running club are a few of the new, small group classes the gym has planned for this summer. The classes range in size from groups of four up through 16. Prices vary per class and range from about $15 to $30 per class and are available for both members and non-members.
“The small classes become very tight knit. They are like a club within a club,” says Don Foy, general manager at the gym. He himself regularly takes a Pilates Reformer class.
TRX is an exercise program with roots in U.S. Navy SEALs training. It uses a portable suspension trainer for leveraged bodyweight exercise that builds power, strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility, and prevents injuries. The Pilates Reformer class uses the specialized reformer equipment to provide finely tuned exercise resistance to work precisely with alignment, core strength, and all of the Pilates exercise principles.
As always, Gold’s Gym offers classes for the entire family. Summer aquatics classes are available for all ages, and for older children there are baseball clinics and individual, group and team Performance Training.
One of the largest facilities in the area, the gym includes three group exercise studios, 60 cycling bikes, a 3,000-square-foot boxing studio, a 25-yard pool, and a cardio center with more than 150 pieces of equipment, a cardio cinema with a different movie shown every day, a women’s only area, and a sports performance training center.
“Aside from delivering a great facility, our goal is to assist each and every member with achieving his or her own fitness goals,” says Foy. “Our staff has the knowledge to customize a program for you, whether you are new to working out, a person looking to lose weight, or a serious athlete looking to achieve greater performance on the field.”
