College may be expensive, but for resourceful students and families there are numerous opportunities to fund their educations.

The Central New Jersey Rotary Clubs are co-hosting a combination college fair and admissions/financial aid primer event for students and their families about the numerous ways to fund a college education. The free event will take place Saturday, January 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the College of New Jersey’s Brower Student Center. For more information, visit

The event will feature presenters giving talks on test preparation, admissions, and financial aid for higher learning. At the same time, there will be a college fair featuring TCNJ, Rider, Stockton, Mercer County Community College, Mercer Vocational Tech, Cabrini College, Ramapo, Rosemont, and others, along with military recruiters.

The presenters include Don Betterton, a former director of financial aid at Princeton University as well as Andre Maglione of New Jersey’s Higher Education Student Assistance Authority. There will be information on local scholarships available — including Rotary college scholarships, ETS Scholarships, Janssen Scholarships and others. The Boys & Girls Clubs and the United Way will have resources to assist with the application process for college and/or financial aid.
