Macio Sexton, founder and head chef for Fit 6 Prep, has a passion for helping people be healthy. “I try to keep it interesting, to appeal to individuals to eat healthier and a little better,” explains Chef Macio. “You have to add a little flair to it if you want to be different.”
Fit 6 Prep is a new health-conscious gourmet meal prep service delivering internationally inspired healthy foods at reasonable prices to your home or office. They have a team of personal trainers guiding you to your health goals.
Chef Macio personally does 90 percent of the cooking. “I always see everything before it leaves the kitchen. I taste everything to make sure it is up to par. Quality assurance. I don’t want one bad meal. I want a thousand perfect meals.”
The Fit 6 Prep menu includes foods inspired by Caribbean, Mediterranean, Southern, Southwest, Thai, and Asian cuisines: all areas of cooking Macio learned and embraced through his more than two-decade career as a chef.
This Trenton-born entrepreneur developed his passion for international and exotic foods in his Trinidadian grandmother’s kitchen. He taught himself how to cook and then attended the Art Institute of New York for more formal culinary training. Chef Macio has worked as an executive chef in local corporate and fine dining establishments, including the Wyndham Princeton Forrestal Conference Center in Plainsboro and Green Acres Country Club in Lawrence. He also worked in Jamaica as a sous chef, and opened Jayson Williams’ Tri-Js Chicken and Waffles restaurant in Trenton.
Most recently he was the executive chef at the Brick Hotel in Newtown, PA; a stint that included working with Gordon Ramsay’s “Hotel Hell” reality television show, the current highlight of his career. He is in talks to possibly appear in Top Chef, season 14. “It is big for me. I’d love the opportunity.”
Prior to forming Fit 6 Prep, Chef Macio created Macio’s International Signature Salads and created healthy salads and wraps. The idea was to encourage children to eat salads by creating superheroes of salads, complete with their own action figures. These tasty salads will be incorporated into his weekly menus.
This summer Fit 6 Prep will be launching Fit 6 Kids, a way to reconstruct kids’ meals that makes them healthier, yet still appealing to younger taste buds.
The weekly menu is posted by 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Fit6Prep.com. Orders are placed by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday night, and delivered fresh on Sundays. You do not need to be home in order to receive your meals. They can be left on your doorstep or in a designated area in insulated packaging so it remains fresh.
Orders must include a minimum of 10 meals. Each meal costs between $6.99 and $12.99. Currently meals are delivered to Princeton and north. Delivery is free within Mercer County; delivery outside of Mercer County ranges from $10 to $15 depending if the destination is out of state. They are currently running a couple of promotions.
The “It is a Pleasure to Meet You” promotion is buy 10 meals with your initial order and receive two more for free. The other offer is 20 meals for $140 — an incredible bargain at only $7 a meal. “We are keeping our prices moderate to offer awesome healthy food with a kick. We have upscale gourmet restaurant quality food at a fraction of the cost,” enthuses Chef Macio.
