Family Guidance Center Corporation (FGCC) offers a broad spectrum of services designed to improve the emotional and financial wellness of families throughout Mercer County. The Agency serves more than 4,000 individuals annually through outpatient mental health and substance use treatment, financial wellness programs, a special education school and community-based programs. Many families utilize multiple services throughout the agency.
Counseling and Case Management. FGCC’s outpatient services include individual, group and family counseling, evaluations and medication monitoring services. The agency is also Mercer County’s provider of Family Preservation Services, and pregnant women are screened for substance use and provided with case management services by highly skilled clinicians at Health-Start Prenatal Clinics. Other community-based services include helping Medicare beneficiaries manage their healthcare through the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and providing case management for the homeless through a collaborative effort at the City of Trenton’s CEASe Center.
Financial Wellness. Integrated into outpatient treatment programs are financial wellness programs at Consumer Credit Counseling Service. Community members can access the Debt Management Program to reduce credit card debt and improve their credit score. They can also save their home from foreclosure, get student loan counseling, develop a household budget or attend a First Time Homebuyer Education Class. Individuals receiving Social Security/Disability benefits can get assistance managing their monthly income and expenses through the agency’s Representative Payee Program.
Education. The Children’s Day School is a special education school for students ages 6 to 15. The school provides academic and therapeutic support for youth with behavior and learning challenges. Local school districts send their students to the Day School for the specialized services they receive. This year, the school opened the first Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) lab in the state designed specifically for elementary and middle-school aged learners in a special education setting. Most of the students attend the after-school program, the Children’s Day Treatment Program, where they receive intensive mental health treatment and case management services.
