Taking care of patients’ primary eyecare needs is the focus of Jim I. Ciccarello, O.D. & Eyecare Associates.
While it may sound obvious, primary eyecare is critical to good eye health. Yet many people are casual about seeking routine check-ups that can be sight-saving.
“It’s very important to get a full exam — on a yearly basis — to check eye health,” said Dr. Ciccarello. “We can identify — or rule out — diseases such as glaucoma or retinal problems that can have real consequences if left untreated.”
At Eyecare Associates, information on each patient’s eyes is gathered using sophisticated technology that tracks key items such as prescription data, the curve of the cornea and refraction data. Additionally, eye pressure, visual field screening, visual acuities and a host of other ways the eye functions are addressed during exam pre-testing.
“This is pretty amazing technology,” Dr. Ciccarello said. “We’ve can modernize the pretest features and upgrade the way that we examine the patient’s eye.”
Eyecare Associates also employs high-tech equipment to assess both the retina and the macula. Dr. Ciccarello explains that macular pigments are somewhat associated with macular degeneration. His goal is to catch these changes early and treat the eyes appropriately. Dr. Ciccarello also treats a host of common eye ailments such as bacterial or allergic conjunctivitis, red eye and removing foreign bodies from the eyes.
“We’re dedicated to great eyecare and great patient service,” he added. “We’re open seven days a week, and pride ourselves on finding a spot for someone quickly. If we can’t do a same-day appointment, we make sure a patient can be seen within a very few days.”
Eyecare Associates is an independent optometric practice located adjacent to LensCrafters in Princeton Market Fair. “We were established about 18 years ago, so we take care of many, many patients from Princeton and the surrounding communities,” noted Dr. Ciccarello.
In addition to primary eyecare and a dedicated staff, Eyecare Associates also maintains an extensive contact lens service. The office features all types, including the new silicon-based, oxygen-permeable lenses. Dr. Ciccarello says from pre-teens to seniors, most everyone can be fit for a contact lens to accommodate their needs.
