Where is the best place you have ever lived? How do you feel at the end of the day when you get home? For many people home is the safest place you can be. It is the place where you are cared for and nurtured; where you recharge your batteries and face each day with anticipation and joy. It is where Enable consumers reside and are made comfortable in their living quarters and where parents and guardians are given time to take a breather before returning to the vital task of caregiving for family, friends, and loved ones. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities under Enable’s umbrella are in good hands.

David, a consumer at our Fusion Day program engaged in skin-picking behavior. At one point the behavior was so extensive that he had open wounds on his hands. He is a very social person who loves to give high fives and fist bumps. To safeguard the health and safety of other individuals at the day program we had to explain to David that he could no longer engage in high fives and fist bumps.

He was really bummed but worked hard with our behaviorist and the staff at Fusion who coached him when he was feeling anxious to use his sensory objects, and to follow his behavior contract, which addressed having responsible hands. Over the course of a few months David’s hands healed and he was able to give fists bumps and high fives to his friends.

This holiday season, please consider making a gift to Enable, so that we can continue providing the best quality services to the Davids of the world. A gift to Enable, reinforces our mission of keeping Enable consumers in good hands by allowing us to hire professionals who deliver impassioned care. Our generous supporters have stood by us as we have added more homes, as we shored up our resources to improve the properties for consumers and as we transitioned from DDD funding to a fee for service model. Your generosity allowed us to make this change seamlessly so that Enable consumers would thrive.

Your meaningful donation is the invisible hand that shapes the day for so many people. Please donate generously so that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can live their best lives.
