Improving the look surrounding the eye can have a profound impact on its “lift.” Dr. Nicole Schrader offers non-surgical eyelid lift options so women can look younger without going under the knife.
“Over the past decade, we have learned that volume loss in and around the eyes contributes a significant amount to the aging process of the area,” Dr. Schrader said. “As a result, I use non-surgical volume restoration to address these changes. The main advance in this area is the use of in-office injectables to improve the hollowness of the lower eyes and the laxity of the upper eyelids.”
There are three main products Dr. Schrader uses to achieve these results: Restylane, Juvederm and the patient’s own fat. Restylane® and Juvederm® are hyaluronic products (proteins found in the skin) which are injected in the hollow region of the lower eyes and can also be used to reduce the laxity of the upper eyelids by improving the position of the eyebrows.
They generally have few side effects and can last up to eight months. Botox injections can also be used to reduce the crow’s feet wrinkles in an eyelid lift procedure, further enhancing the overall appearance.
Fat transfer can achieve similar results to Restylane and Juvederm. The main difference is that fat can be a permanent solution for about 90 percent of individuals. Fat is usually harvested from the abdominal region under local anesthesia and injected in the appropriate regions of the eyes, midface and brows. For individuals with significant hollowness and sagging, fat provides a better solution than hyaluronic products.
“When we look at the big picture, a lot of beauty and feeling better about ourselves comes down to taking care of issues on the face,” said Dr. Schrader. “I’m pleased to be able to offer many patients this non-surgical alternative to the eyelid lift.”
