Clifford A. Goldman on September 16. He was New Jersey State Treasurer from 1976 to 1982 and a principal architect of the Brendan Byrne administration’s school finance reform package that led to the adoption of the state’s first income tax in 1976. Services will be held Friday, September 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Micah at the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, 2688 Lawrenceville Road.

James A. Verde, 74, on September 16. He was the owner of Jim’s Scrap in Trenton. Services will be held Thursday, September 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home at 1863 Hamilton Avenue.

Raymond C. Helmich, 70, on September 9. He was lab manager, heating design/packaging engineer, and engineering coach at American Standard Company. He also was a staff engineer at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. In his retirement he was an agent for Richardson Realty Company.
