The New Jersey State Council on the Arts has named Nicholas Paleologos, an Emmy-winning film producer, as its new executive director. Paleologos will begin his term early next year, succeeding interim executive director Ellen Prusinowski.

Prusinowski took over for Steve Runk, who left the council at the end of July after 20 years to become the director of communications at the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University.

Paleologos was a state legislator in Massachusetts for 14 years before founding a theater company in Boston in 1990. In 1997 his HBO film “In the Gloaming” won an Emmy; in 2007 he took over as the executive director of the Massachusetts Film Office.

Paleologos earned his undergraduate degree from Tufts University and a masters in public administration from Harvard.

The Jewish Community Center of the Delaware Valley has named Lee Rosenfield its new CEO, beginning January 1. Rosenfield, the director of development for Hillel at Rutgers University (the New Brunswick campus’ Jewish foundation center), will succeed Mike Wise, who has served as the JCC’s interim CEO since June.

Before Rosenfield joined Hillel he was the national director of development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He also was director of institutional advancement for Gratz College in Pennsylvania and a development officer for Jewish Federations of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

Rosenfield, who grew up in Massachusetts, earned his master’s in public administration from the University of Southern California and his master’s in Jewish communal service from Hebrew Union.

Edison Venture Fund, an investment firm based at 1009 Lenox Drive, has invested $4 million in MediaBrix, a New York-based social media advertising firm. The money is intended to accelerate sales and product development.

Ruben Rivera, 73, on December 18. He retired from Carter-Wallace, and was previously employed with Young’s Rubber Corp. and as an adjunct faculty member at Rider University. A funeral will be held at on Thursday, December 22, at 10 a.m. at Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way in Hamilton.
