Mactec, a Georgia-based environmental engineering firm with an office at American Metro Boulevard, has been acquired by British engineering and project management firm Amec for $280 million.
The deal puts approximately 2,600 Mactec employees under the Amec umbrella and gives Amec a greater presence in the American east coast market.Mactec’s management team is expected to remain with Amec.

Capital Health System recently raised $5.2 million toward the surgical center of its new hospital in Hopewell. Fifteen investors, all either Capital Health executives or Trenton-area doctors, contributed the money, according to an SEC filing.
Nathan Bosk, who is responsible for the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of off-site ambulatory facilities for Capital Health, as well as for its primary care network and specialists, will be in charge of the development and management of the Ambulatory Surgical Center in the new hospital.
Bosk was formerly COO and associate administrator at Lower Bucks Hospital and an associate administrator at Warminster General Hospital in Pennsylvania.
The new Capital Health Medical Center is scheduled to open on November 6 in Hopewell.

BlackRock has moved the last of its employees from 800 Scudders Mill Road to University Square, at the intersection of Alexander Road and Route 1.
The move comes 13 months after the financial investment giant announced that it would stay in the Princeton region by signing on for 141,000 square feet and two-and-a-half floors at University Square. It also comes just a few weeks after diabetes drugmaker Novo Nordisk announced that it had bought 800 Scudders Mill Road for $215 million, with plans to gut and renovate the site.
The move puts 1,000 BlackRock employees at University Square.

St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton has laid off 37 employees. The hospital stated that the layoffs are due to a combination of low reimbursements, a drop in the number of patients admitted, and various changes from federal healthcare reform.
The layoffs affect fairly high-ranking administrative staff. According to president and CEO Jerry Jablonowski, 20 of those laid off are in leadership roles and 17 are staff members. The hospital also has consolidated some departments.

Rosetta, the digital marketing firm bought by Publicis Groupe for $575 million in May, has cut its staff by about 20 in three of its nine offices, including the one on American Metro Boulevard.
Specifics for the Hamilton office have not been released, but according to published reports, the layoffs do not stem from the deal with Publicis, but are instead part of a corporate realignment.
