Capital Public Affairs, the Mapleton Road-based public relations firm, has been acquired by MWW, one of the state’s largest PR companies. As part of the deal, CPA partner and president Steven E. Some joined MWW as a senior vice president and manager of MWW’s Trenton office. MWW also hired Mercer County Republican chairman Rich Levesque as vice president of the Trenton office, working under Some. The Mapleton Road office has closed.

The move makes East Rutherford-based MWW a more bipartisan company. Some has raised funds for Republican candidates while MWW president Michael Kempner is a prominent Democratic fundraiser.

“This acquisition is a natural fit and deepens our relationships on both sides of the aisle,” Kempner said.

Some will continue to serve as a commentator and contributor to media outlets including FOX News Channel and the Newark Star-Ledger.

Before founding Capital Public Affairs in 1993, Some served in the Reagan administration in the departments of labor and the interior. While at Capital Public Affairs, he was appointed to presidential commissions including the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council and the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.

Some was also appointed chairman of the state Commission on Holocaust Education by Governor Christine Whitman, and was part of the U.S. delegation to the first International Conference on Holocaust Education and Research in Stockholm.

Longtime MWW executive Kevin Frechette, who died in September, was previously general manager of the Trenton office.

MWW also works in social media, corporate communications, and marketing.
