The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce announced this year’s Leader, Entrepreneur and Innovator of the Year award winners November 10 at a press conference held at the Technology Center of Princeton, 330 Carter Road, Princeton. The award winners will be honored at the Chamber’s Annual Business Leadership Awards Gala being held on Wednesday, December 3, at the Tournament Players Club Jasna Polana. Gold sponsors for the event are ETS and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Larry Krampf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Princeton Communications Group, kicked off the press event. “The Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor three leaders whose accomplishments are a source of motivation and inspiration to the business community and the entire Princeton Region,” said Krampf, “We look forward to celebrating with them at the Chamber’s Annual Business Leadership Awards Gala on December 3rd.”
Previous award winners were in attendance to present this year’s honorees. Jerry Fennelly, President of NAI Fennelly and 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year, announced this year’s winner in the same category, Jack Morrison, President, JM Group. The Entrepreneur of the Year award is sponsored by Bank of America.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce,” said Morrison. “The JM Group’s success is a direct result of our loyal employees’ hard work and their commitment to the food and hospitality business. I would also like to thank the Princeton regional community for supporting our store and restaurants through the years. None of this would have been possible without them.”
Mika Ryan, President of the Mercer County Sports & Entertainment Commission and 2006 Leader of the Year, announced this year’s award winner in the same category, Janet Vergis, President, Janssen, McNeil Pediatrics, and Ortho-McNeil Neurologics, Divisions of Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The Leader of the Year award is sponsored by Tyco International.
“At Johnson and Johnson, our responsibility to the communities in which we live and work is one of the cornerstones of our Credo,” said Vergis. “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of our employees at Janssen, McNeil Pediatrics, and Ortho-McNeil Neurologics, whose personal involvement in local community activities has made a meaningful difference in the Princeton region.”
J. Robert Hillier, Founder, Hillier Architecture and 2006 Innovator of the Year, announced this year’s award winner in the same category, Kurt Landgraf, President & CEO, ETS. The Innovator of the Year award is sponsored by NRG Energy.
“I am honored to accept the Chamber’s Innovator of the Year Award on behalf of all the ETS employees who, through their hard work and creativity, made it all possible,” said Landgraf. “From the products and services we offer that help teachers teach and learners learn, to assisting community, educational, charitable and service groups, we strive to bring innovation to bear in service to those we serve.”
Each year the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce hosts the Annual Business Leadership Awards Gala in order to devote an evening to reflect on the accomplishments and achievements of its Members. This annual event, which has been occurring since the Chamber’s inception in 1960, is an opportunity to honor Members, friends and colleagues. In addition, the Business Leadership Awards Gala helps support the programs, activities and events which make the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce one of the strongest business organizations in New Jersey.
The gala is being held on Wednesday, December 3, at the Tournament Players Club Jasna Polana. Cocktail reception begins at 5:30, with dinner and awards at 7 p.m. Cocktail reception sponsors include Flaster/Greenberg and PNC Bank. There will also be a silent auction to benefit the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
