There is so much going on at the Brick Farm Market this summer!

For starters, Hog Fest is happening! This new Market event celebrates Double Brook Farm premium pork, local bands, artists, family fun, and the outdoors. Join us on one of two (or both!) dates: Saturday, July 23, and Saturday, August 20, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. As always, BYOB and plan to stay awhile as the Ocean Country Bluegrass Band entertains all generations. No need for tickets, this event will be going on from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. so stop in anytime. There will be activities for the kids as well, including face painting, a juggler, and acrobats. And they will love the old-fashioned shaved ice with house-made syrups from local berries and fruits!

But Hog Fest is really about the Market’s exceptional pork coming from hogs raised on pasture at Double Brook Farm in Hopewell. Chef Chase Gerstenbacher will be using two grills outdoors for the event to smoke and roast meats, and serving up sides to match. Features will include slow-smoked pork for sandwiches and tacos, house-made hot dogs, and chorizo burgers. For vegetarians, do not miss out on the grilled corn (Elote) with chipotle aioli, queso fresco, and cilantro. A special Double Brook Farm goat, slow roasted “en la Caja China” will be offered after 4 p.m.

In the summer the Market is abuzz as local products come in daily from the farm: fresh Jersey peaches, melons, sweet corn, berries, herbs, onions, and greens. And, of course, summer would not be summer without the king of New Jersey produce: the tomato. Superstar of all Jersey fruits, the Market will have the tomato in every variation: cherry, plum, beefsteak, and a number of heirlooms. Slice, braise, roast, dehydrate, or simply eat them like apples. There is nothing better than a summer tomato from New Jersey!

The Market is also just launching cold-pressed juices. While they are experimenting through the summer, keep an eye out for some standards in the case by the registers: Beet-Apple-Lime, Carrot-Orange-Ginger, and Green Splash! Stay tuned for more interesting, healthy, and delicious options as the Market rolls out this program. Staying healthy has never been easier.

As always, stop in anytime for a curated, gourmet cheese selection, bakery items made in the bakery on premises, charcuterie made in-house, a made-to-order juice, barista coffee, any cut of meat you need, and a number of seasonal prepared foods, produce, and grocery items. The Brick Farm Market is also offering catering for limited events. Contact Chase Gerstenbacher for more information at 609-466-6500.
