Billtrust, a provider of automated invoicing and statement systems for small and medium-sized businesses based in American Metro Center in Hamilton, has announced that it will manage billing services for Hologic, based in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Hologic is a developer, manufacturer, and supplier of premium diagnostics products, medical imaging systems, and surgical products dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of women. Hologic currently serves more than 8,000 healthcare industry customers on five continents.

Billtrust will manage the processing and delivery of Hologic’s invoices and statements across North America. The company completed the outsourcing of its billing function to Billtrust at the end of 2011.

Prior to Billtrust, Hologic managed the billing process in-house. The decision to outsource was driven by the need for more advanced online technology to meet the needs of their customers, along with an opportunity to reduce overall billing costs.

“Hologic is a perfect example of how companies can become more responsive, more efficient, and more profitable through high-quality outsourced billing practices,” said Flint Lane, Billtrust CEO.

Meanwhile, Billtrust also recently announced two new expansions to its online operations. The company upgraded its CustomerCare portal to provide billers with a more intuitive payment interface and enhanced support tracking capabilities.

CustomerCare is a web-based portal offered as part of Billtrust’s CompleteBilling service. It is used by Billtrust’s customers to manage billing and payments, and to track their billing files and invoices from processing to delivery.

“The new payment interface allows Billtrust clients to accept ACH or credit card customer payments via an easy-to-use payment screen where users can select individual bills,” said a company press release.

The new CustomerCare upgrade also offers a support tracking feature where tickets can be quickly submitted to the Billtrust Customer Service team. Customers also have instant access to existing tickets to modify requests or check case status in real-time.

In addition, the company partnered with e-invoicing network OB10 to offer business-to-business billers a solution to connect to the OB10 network more easily and cost-effectively.

The collaboration with OB10 allows Billtrust customers to deliver their invoices directly to the OB10 network, helping to satisfy its customers’ desire to receive electronic invoices directly into their financial system.

“This advanced integration provides efficiency for both accounts receivable and accounts payable departments,” stated a Billtrust release. “It also eliminates costly manual paper processing and enables identification of exceptions immediately upon invoice receipt.”

The deal with Hologic is the latest in a flurry of activity for Billtrust. It moved to a new office in American Metro last year and opened a new operations center on South Gold Drive in Hamilton (U.S. 1, February 1). In January, it acquired Mark Altman & Associates of Hudson, Mass., to supplement its municipal billing services.

In February, the company launched Invoice Central, a cloud-based business invoice network that provides online invoice delivery and payment services for both vendors and small businesses.
