Now is a great time to clear up poor vision with LASIK so the rest of the summer is crystal clear.

At Barry Wasserman, M.D., LLC, medical director Dr. Barry Wasserman uses state-of-the-art technology to perform LASIK, a procedure he and his family members have had to improve their vision and quality of life.

"I know what it’s like to have to decide between taking my glasses off to go in the pool and not really being able to see, or to risk damaging contacts with chlorine," he said. "I had LASIK 10 years ago, and it changed my life."

LASIK has been around for more than two decades and has been performed on 30 million-plus eyes to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It has an "amazingly terrific" track record in terms of safety and results, is not painful, and has virtually no recovery time.

"I tell my patients to take a two-hour nap afterward," Dr. Wasserman explained. "Most are seeing well and feeling fine by dinnertime, and most drive themselves to see me the next day. They shouldn’t hit the pool or do strenuous exercise for about five days, but that’s about it."

And while Dr. Wasserman, who also is the medical director of New Jersey Eye Laser Center at Princeton, uses the latest and greatest technology to treat his patients, he also prides himself on his laid-back office, friendly and caring staff, and patient-oriented practice.

"We treat people, not eyeballs," he said, adding it’s one of the key things he teaches residents at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. "What’s important is that patients feel they are cared for and taken care of when they come to the office."

Dr. Wasserman’s practice has a warm, inviting, and friendly atmosphere. Patients are on a first-name basis with the doctor and his staff. Music plays during procedures so patients are comfortable.

"Formal and serious does not make me smarter or more competent," Dr. Wasserman noted. "We want your questions to be answered, no matter how many you have, so you know you’re at the right place with the right person. We want you to have a totally cool experience here."

In addition to LASIK, Dr. Wasserman specializes in pediatric eye conditions. For more information or to make an appointment for a free evaluation, call 609-243-8711 or visit
