After a month of being closed round the clock, the Alexander Road S-curve linking Route 1 and downtown Princeton is expected to reopen by Thursday morning, June 30. The month-long closing has triggered massive tie-ups on Route 1 and on the remaining crossroads offering access to Princeton, Washington Road and Harrison Street.
According to Pat Ward, community development coordinator for West Windsor Township, the work that has kept the S-curve closed throughout June should end on Wednesday night. Work on Alexander Road will continue as it had before, with occasional one-lane closures. Ward said that after 30 days the township will put the top coat on the road, but that it will be done at night. There will not be any more closures that will re-reoute traffic on Alexander Road, she said.
