With its techno music score, and its depiction of the New York hipster scene, the George Street Playhouse production of Theresa Rebeck’s "The Scene" naturally lends itself to young professionals mixing and networking. On Thursday, March 13, Theatre ROCKS! participants can attend a performance of Rebeck’s edgy comedy and enjoy a post show party with live music, free appetizers, door prizes, and a vodka tasting by production product sponsor Zyr Vodka.

A program in conjunction with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance, Theatre ROCKS! is designed to provides a unique and affordable social opportunity for young professionals. Ticket-buyers must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid ID. Tickets for the performance and post-show party package are $25. Theatre ROCKS! partners with New Jersey Young Professionals, a networking organization of more than 8,000 members that hosts 20 to 30 events per month. Young professionals can sign up for a free membership at www.njyp.org.

"The Scene," reviewed in U.S. 1 on March 5, is written by the author of this past season’s Broadway hit "Mauritius" and tells the tale of four New Yorkers making it big (or trying to) in the entertainment industry. Life is just one dull party after another until Clea, a hungry young starlet, enters the picture. With an eye-popping figure, a dangerous wardrobe and an insatiable appetite for men and money, she shakes up the lives of one couple and their best friend. This production is recommended for mature audiences, due to sexual situations and profanity.

The after-party will be a "scene" unto itself with the band the Parasite Single. Listen to their music at www.myspace.com/theparastiesingle (the typo is the band’s, not ours, and the link works). Zyr Russian Vodka, which sponsors this George Street production, is crafted from a blend of wheat and rye grown in the rich black soil of Russia’s heartland. Known as a luxury vodka, Zyr goes through nine filtrations, five distillations, and a three-stage taste test to ensure its clean taste and ultra smooth texture. The word "vodka" is derived from "voda," the Russian word for "water." It is pronounced "zeer," a derivation of the Russian "zyrkalo miro" or "reflection of the world."
