Allergan Leases Facility in Bridgewater

Allergan Inc. has signed a lease for a 93,000-square-foot research and development facility in Somerset Corporate Center II in Bridgewater. The company is expected to bring several hundred jobs and some $12 million in additional private investment into the area’s economy in the next three to five years.

Allergan, headquartered in Irvine, CA, is a global specialty pharmaceutical company with products in ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, dermatology products, and neurological products, including Botox.

Somerset Corporate Center II is a 250,000-square-foot, class A building owned by SJP Properties of Parisppany. The center also houses Qualcomm, Merrill Lynch, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

“We are extremely confident that Allergan will strongly benefit from this property’s strategic location within the heart of New Jersey’s pharma and tech corridor, offering unparalleled access to a highly skilled labor pool,” said Steven J. Pozycki, CEO of SJP Properties, in a press release.

Area commercial properties in SJP’s portfolio include the two-building, 300,000-square-foot Commons at 7 Roszel Road with tenants including Merrill Lynch and Miami International Holdings.

Allergan announced that it was locating in central New Jersey last November.

The company was approved for a Business Employment Incentive Program grant from the Economic Development Authority worth $14.9 million over 10 years. The number of employees the company would bring has been estimated at 350.
