Frits Besselaar and Tom Sowanick are co-presidents of the firm. Besselaar holds a bachelor’s in international relations from the University of Richmond and a master’s in real estate development and finance from Columbia.
In 1991 he founded Princeton Investment Advisors as a way to invest the assets of his family — the G.H. Besselaar Company was one of the first contract research organizations in the Princeton area. In 1989 the company was acquired by Corning Labs to create Corning Besselaar (now known as Covance).
He also served as a general partner of River Capital Partners Ltd., a multi-manager fund geared towards high-net worth offshore investors.
Sowanick, who also is the firm’s CIO, once served as CIO of the Private Client Group at Merrill Lynch, where he also was in charge of global macro research. He earned his bachelor’s in economics and literature from American University, and pursued graduate studies in economics at the same school.
