Stimulus for Science

Princeton University will receive $22.8 million in federal stimulus money to further its research into high-tech science fields.

The money, part of the government’s $22 billion plan to fund programs that tackle pressing environmental issues, will be used to further research projects in energy, mathematics, engineering, meteorology, computer science, and neuroscience.

Similarly, Rutgers has received $22.4 million that will fund scientific research ranging from genetic markers for autism to smoking cessation to climate change.

Also, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey will get a $1 million NIH.

The grant to examine the benefits of blood transfusions for anemic patients; and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey will get $750,000 to study cell mutation.
