The New Season: Dance

Alborada Spanish Dance Theater

The Sephardic Connection: The Story of the Spanish Jews. Alborada Spanish Dance Theater presents a new production celebrating the cross-cultural influences between Spain, Morocco, and Israel. The Daughters of Sophia Tribunal Dance Troupe and the Noga Group area featured with Sephardic music. Saturday, September 29.

Nutcracker Espanol. Alborada Spanish Dance Theater presents a new production with a twist on the traditional Nutcracker as seen through the eyes of a Spanish child. Sunday, November 18.

Grounds For Sculpture

The Outlet Dance Project. Showcase for emerging female choreographers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Outlet director Jamuna Dasi has invited the dance companies to incorporate sculptural elements in the park with original choreographed dances in different locations throughout the park. $12 includes admission to the park. Rennie Harris Puremovement. Dance company based in Philadelphia presents hip-hop culture with “Students of the Asphalt Jungle,” “P-Funk,” and “March of the Ant Man.” $25. Monday, September 24.

Ballet Folklorico de Mexico. The 75-member troupe includes a theatrical spectacle with dancing traditions, colorful costumes, and a mariachi band. $39 to $46. Saturday, September 29.

Georgian State Dance Company. The 80-member troupe presents Georgian folk dance including its ritual, work, game, and comic elements. $37 to $44. Thursday, November 1.

The Nutcracker. American Repertory Ballet presents Graham Lustig’s “The Nutcracker,” the Tchaikovsky holiday classic with choreography by artistic director Lustig and sets and costumes by Zack Brown. $28 to $40. Saturday, November 17 through Sunday, November 25..
