Two exhibits hosted by Temple B’nai Shalom in East Brunswick will spotlight the art of Israel. “A Festival of Israeli Art” from the Safrai Gallery of Jerusalem represents the works of over 100 Israeli artists. More than 1,500 works will be for sale including oils, water colors, serigraphs, lithographs, woodcuts, and etchings, popularly priced from $40 to $1,000. The Safrai Gallery tour is traditionally the largest viewing of Israeli art available in the United States.

The second exhibit, “Israel @ 60,” is a New Jersey-Israel Commission photo and documentary exhibit that highlights New Jersey’s 20-year sister-state relationship with Israel, memorialized by the 1988 agreement signed by Governor Tom Kean. In 1989 the NJ - Israel Commission was established.

Both exhibits will be held at the temple, located at Fern and Old Stage Road, East Brunswick, Thursday through Sunday, September 11 to 14.

“The exhibits are a wonderful way to celebrate Israel’s 60th,” says organizer Rebecca Brenowitz of Temple B’nai Shalom. “ We are very eager to support the artistic expression of these talented Israeli artists. And we will have art that will appeal to all tastes.” A percentage of the proceeds from the art sales will go directly to the Israeli artists and the artistic community in Israel.
